Winter Seasonal Jobs to Consider – Cool Part-Time Holiday Jobs at the Mall
Monster.com is known as a premiere destination for full-time work, but it is a great resource for temporary workers as well. Roberta Matuson, a Monster Contributing Writer, wrote an interesting article about cool holiday jobs. She suggested, and made a strong case, for five unique kinds of winter seasonal jobs.
- Characters & Entertainers – A good Santa Clause or magician can really draw in a crowd.
- Undercover Security Guards & Loss Prevention Associates – Ms. Matuson describes these individuals as “secret agents” who patrol storeroom floors trying to detect and detain shoplifters.
- Greeters – These are individuals who stand at the entrance to greet new customers and point them in the right direction, if necessary. These “store ambassadors” need little more than a dependable work ethic and a friendly smile.
- Customer Service Representatives – Ms. Matuson points out that many store receive plenty of post-Christmas traffic related to returns. Customer service personnel are necessary as “troubleshooters” of sorts.
- In-Store Demonstrators – People who show customers how specific products work.
Find Creative Ways to Make Money – Pitch a Unique Christmas Retail Job
A retail store may or may not have the above types of temporary job positions clearly advertised, so consider suggesting one of these to a manager. Make a case for the job, and consider being paid on a commission basis (in the case of a product demonstrator) or as a freelancer (if playing Santa). Consider unique ways to make money around Christmastime for an enjoyable temporary job experience.
